The Samsung galaxy S4 came with a set of new features that many users would like to have on their own Android smartphones. If you are one of these users, you will be happy to know that one of Galaxy S4′s most desired feature, the Air Call Accept feature, is now replicated via an app and you can use it in your Samsung Galaxy S3 and in other Android-based smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S3 (and other Android smartphones) has the Smart Dial and the Smart Stay features but even so, the Air Call Accept feature is more important than the two aforementioned features and it enhances the Android (and smartphone) experience.
While we did not test the Air Call Accept app on all supported Android smartphones, it should work on them just as well. The app is free and it is very impressive, bringing you the same functionality as the Samsung Galaxy S4 feature. With the Air Call Accept app, you can easily answer or reject your phone calls without even touching it. Using the proximity sensor on your Android smartphone, it detects when you wave your hand over the screen or when you place the phone to your ear. The feature (and implicitly this app) is very useful for drivers with a Bluetooth headset, it means you don’t have to fiddle around trying to press the correct button, so you can concentrate all of your attention to driving.
Important: please note that in order to install this app you do not need to have a rooted smartphone. So don’t worry about losing your smartphone’s warranty.
Even though the majority of Android smartphones don’t include an infrared sensor, the Air Call feature uses the Proximity sensor which can be found in almost every high-end Android smartphone.
So, in order to use the Air Call Accept app, you need to have a smartphone that includes a Proximity sensor – this is a must have the requirement. If you meet this requirement, install the Air Call Accept app on your smartphone; after installing the app, all you need to do to answer a phone call using the proximity sensor is wave your hand over your smartphone’s proximity sensor.
The Air Call Accept app comes in two versions – a free version and a paid version. Besides the ability to answer calls with a hand gesture, the paid version offers more options; these are:
- The ability to reject calls
- You can turn on the speaker when you answer a call
- You can make the app send an automated SMS whenever you reject a call
The Air Call Accept app is supported by almost all Android smartphones that have a Proximity sensor (the number one requirement) and are running Android 1.6 or later.
